Football Kicks Off Spring Drills

Tuesday's workout first of 15 spring practices.

Will not participate further due to medical reasons... Back injury will prevent further play... Played 2012 and 2011 seasons after redshirting in 2010... Played five career games as backup offensive lineman... Recorded 29 reps in 225-pound bench press.

2012 (Sophomore): Played in two of 13 games during injury-shortened sophomore season... Dressed for first five games, played in opener (win over SMU) and fifth game (vs. TCU) before back injury ended season.

2011 (Redshirt Freshman): Played in three games as reserve offensive lineman in redshirt freshman season... Earned first collegiate letter... Made collegiate debut against Stephen F. Austin (second game)... Also played from scrimmage in third game against Rice and fifth game against Iowa State.

2010 (True Freshman): Sat out first season at Baylor and participated on practice squad, redshirted to retain eligibility... Dressed for five games but did not see any game action... Earned Baylor's Co-Offensive Bear Squad Award for work on scout team.

High School: Two-way lineman for Lee High School in Baytown, Texas... Ranked No. 82 offensive guard nationally by Played for head coaches Marvin Sedberry and Dick Olin at Lee... Earned 2009 all-area recognition by Baytown Sun as senior... 2009 second-team All-District 21-5A... Named 2008 second-team All-District 21-5A as junior.

Personal: Son of Tim Sr. and Kerri Smith... Full name is Timothy William Smith Jr... Born Feb. 17, 1992 in Galveston, Texas... Majoring in speech communication.
