On the game overall...
"We made it a little more interesting than it needed to be. I really thought our guys, for the most part, played good enough to dominate this football game. We just didn't put them away when we had the opportunities to do so. Wake had some good things happen, with the fumble and with the blocked field goal late in the game. The thing I'm proud of is that now, instead of bad memories, we have good memories to start off with."
On the outlook for Baylor's season...
"We think we have guys that can play. We think we have guys that can run. Robert [Griffin] throws the ball well. I don't know what his stats were but early in the game he was on and just did an outstanding job. We have people that when we put on them on the field and give them the space, they make plays for us."
On winning against Wake Forest at their home...
"It's hard to win at home and it's very hard to win on the road, especially when you come into someone's place and they have a four-year returning starting quarterback and their stadium is full. From that standpoint it's a huge win for us and for our program."
Wake Forest Head Coach Jim Grobe
On if Wake Forest recovered from the stalled drives in the first quarter...
"I think from a confidence standpoint, it would have been better if we started faster on both sides of the football. I think that hurt us a little bit. But basically if you look at the whole football game, we got what we deserved. When you turn the ball over as many times as we did, and then you give up as many big plays - a couple of them for scores on defense - it's hard to beat a good football team. And I've got to tell you, I think Baylor's a pretty good football team. I think they've got talent on offense and I think their defensive kids are tough and physical. We lost a game, but I think we lost a game to a pretty good football team today...We deserved what we got today and I give Baylor credit for that; I'm not saying that Baylor didn't play very well."
On the loss...
Well, I think we protected better as the game went on. I think our plan going in was to try to control the clock a little bit, try to keep our defense, being a young defense, off the field. For all intents and purposes, if we take care of the football, that works pretty well. The problem is we're in at halftime behind. We've kept the defense off the field but we haven't moved the ball well offensively, so the second half we opened the offense up some, feeling like we just had to, and gave up a couple big scores on defense. It was just a total team effort today. That loss is a team loss; there's no individual to sort out. We just can't give up turnovers on offense and big plays on defense."
On Riley Skinner's play today...
"I think he made a couple poor decisions today but hindsight's 20/20. But I think he's trying to do what we want him to do... I think he wants to take care of the football and doesn't want to turn it over. I think one of the things we have to get back to - and part of that is playing the first game, you make most of your mistakes in the first game - is probably when a play has fallen apart, you've got to be careful about trying to making something out of nothing, and I think that's what Riley did today. There were times when the best thing you can do is take a sack or punt the football, so that's something we'll learn from today and get better."
Wake Forest Sophomore Wide Receiver Devon Brown
Thoughts on the game...
"I just went out there and played hard. We knew the gameplan, we knew the defense they were doing. They didn't show us anything different than we had studied on film. The coaches had everything there we just couldn't capitalize on everything."
"There were a couple of times offensively and defensively we had mistakes. Missed tackles on defense, not lining up the right spots on offense, having false starts. We could have eliminated the penalties and made plays, had less turnovers then it could have easily gone the other way."
Wake Forest Senior Quarterback Riley Skinner
Thoughts on the game...
"Baylor played a great game. They had a good defensive scheme for us. They made us earn what we got. We just turned the ball over too much. It's something that we preach day in and day out. And when we don't follow that this is what happens."
On the interceptions...
"One was just a bad throw. I was trying to throw it to the tight end, he was between the linebacker and safety. I was trying to put it over the linebacker's head and I just babied the ball too much. The linebacker made a good play. The first one was tough. They had covered down pretty good and I threw to the back and I don't know if Kevin knew I was throwing it to him. It's not good when you throw up a ball and there are lots of people of around waiting for it."
