Baylor head coach Art Briles
"(OSU) played extremely well, played with a lot of energy, made plays when they needed to make plays. We were not successful in our scoring opportunities. They made a few plays on us while we were on defense and they were on offense."
On the game:
"We had three or four fourth down non-conversions, we had Antwan (Goodley) having a touchdown called back for stepping out of bounds, which he did, I actually saw it. You can't do that. You can't do that at home, you can't do it on the road and you can't do it against a good team on the road, and that is what happened tonight. We were not as crisp as we needed to be on the offensive side of the ball. We played well in spurts defensively but gave up some plays, too. I thought our special teams were good, but you combine that with the opponent's backyard and a good football team which they are and you have a chance to have an outcome like we had tonight."
On the stumble by Petty at start of game:
"Well, you feel like things aren't going your way and it's not like those are freakish plays, those were normal every downs plays. So it wasn't like it was something out of the ordinary, we were shocked. It is something you come to expect to work opposite of what happened. That's a little disturbing not sure what to call those. "
Going into Halftime:
"We knew we had to get a stop, which we didn't. Get a stop, get a score get it is a 14-10 game. But we didn't get a stop, and I am not sure what we did the first possession but we didn't score and I think in the first two possessions they scored and it's 28-3 and it's a little different scenario. Everything you had planned coming back from half is thrown out the window. Everything you had planned to scheme and work on is thrown by the waste side."
On the experience of OSU:
"They were Big 12 champs two years ago and have maintained over the last 6-8 years. Without question there are rodeos, and this is not their first one. I think there is a little bit of reality, to it but that being said games are all about momentum and if we put that first one in and go up 7-0 you never know. That is why it is so critical that when you have opportunities you have to make plays."
On the loss:
"None of them feel good (losses) but that is just part of it. Our team has done a great job up to this point so I am proud of them for that, and we will try to start again next Saturday at TCU and get us a win."
Baylor quarterback Bryce Petty
On the outcome of the game:
"We have to finish. Props to them. Coach Gundy did a great job of getting his guys ready, and we have to do the same. I think there were just a couple of little things here and there. And it's always little things that we were just missing here and there. They just happened all at once. We'll bounce back from this. I'm not going anywhere, and we're not going anywhere. We still have a lot to accomplish. It's a loss and a team is not defined by how it wins but by how it loses. We'll be ready to go."
On falling down at the one-yard line and then fumbling later on drive:
"It was big. That's not Shock's (Linwood) fault, that's my fault. My feet just left me a little bit and I have to finish that, and it's not his to finish, especially when Corey (Fuller) and Levi (Norwood) did a great job of blocking those guys. It was a funky deal and that's not his fault, that's my fault."
On how to bounce back for next week:
"This is a great team. This is a special team. Like I said, a loss does not define this team. We have a lot to play for still. Would have this been nice? Sure. But, it's not going to ruin our goal as Big 12 champions. We have to get back right and have a great week of practice. We have to play TCU and beat TCU and then get ready for Texas. But, right now it's about TCU so that's what we have to do."
Baylor linebacker/safety Ahmad Dixon
On how difficult the outcome is:
"This is very difficult. Despite that score, the only number that's in my head is 1939, and 2013 didn't change 1939. This hurts. Our chances of still winning the Big 12 aren't over, but we wanted something bigger than that. We wanted something that's never ever been done before and that was go to a national championship. That dream came down. I promise this next one won't crash down on us."
On if they were surprised by how the game played out:
"This is something that we did not prepare for. This is not the type of game we prepared for. We knew it was going to be tough, and it was going to be a dog fight. We knew all of that. We never thought this would be the outcome. Not for a second. Not even when they went up 35-3, we still had faith in our offense to get going and score. Things happen. We're going to learn from this and move forward."
