WACO, Texas - In celebration of just the second 10-win season in the 110-year history of the Baylor football program and the school's first-ever Heisman Trophy winner in Robert Griffin III, the Baylor University Athletics Department is offering a limited number of 2012 season tickets for just $103, department officials announced on Tuesday.
Coach Art Briles' Bears closed the 2011 campaign with six straight victories, capped off by a record-setting 67-56 victory over Washington in the 2011 Valero Alamo Bowl, and are assured of being ranked in the season-ending Associated Press poll for just the 11th time in school history, and the first since 1986 when Baylor ended up at No. 12 in the final AP listing.
"The legacy of the 2011 Baylor football team includes a 10-win season, Valero Alamo Bowl championship and a Heisman trophy winner," said Ian McCaw, Director of Athletics. "Baylor Nation rallied to support this team in a powerful way. Now we need to build upon this momentum in such a way that Baylor Nation fills the stands in 2012 and provides the Bears with a huge home field advantage at Floyd Casey Stadium throughout the season.
"To honor the 2011 team that went 10-3, we are pleased to be able to provide a limited number of season tickets at a special price-point that makes them affordable for all Baylor fans."
The specially priced $103 season tickets will be located in sections A and K as well as the North end zone at Floyd Casey Stadium. The $103 price will only be guaranteed to be available while supplies last, or through the Feb. 1, 2012, national signing day. A $25 handling fee will also be added to each purchase.
Returning season ticket holders in sections A, K and the North End Zone who desire to take advantage of this offer need to log into their account to complete their purchase and should not create a new account. Season ticket holders not in these sections can purchase additional season tickets at this special price, however, it will be in addition to their current seats.
To purchase these tickets, visit the Baylor Athletics Ticket Office in the Ferrell Center, call the ticket office at 254-710-1000 or click here. The ticket office is open weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday with extended hours on days that the Baylor basketball teams are playing at home.
The 2012 football schedule, full ticket pricing and renewal information for other 2012 football ticket locations will be available later this spring. It is expected that Baylor will host non-conference games against longtime rival and 2012 BVAA Compass Bank Bowl participant SMU (Sept. 1) and 2011 FCS finalist Sam Houston State (Sept. 15), in addition to Big 12 opponents Kansas, 2012 Cotton Bowl entrant Kansas State, 2011 Poinsettia Bowl champion TCU and 2011 Big 12 champion and 2012 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl champion Oklahoma State.
The 2012 Big 12 football schedule is expected to be released later this winter.
