Let the party begin.

While the season-ending pep rally is scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday at the Ferrell Center, celebrating the Baylor football team's first 10-win season since 1980, the Bears had every reason to start celebrating a little early when the final polls came in Monday night following Alabama's 21-0 win over LSU in the BCS National Championship game.

With the Bears (10-3) moving up four spots to No. 12 in the ESPN/USA Today coaches' poll and two slots to No. 13 in the Associated Press rankings, it was their highest rankings since 1986, when they were voted 12th by AP and 13th in the coaches' poll.

Of significant note is that Baylor was second among Big 12 teams (behind only No. 3 Oklahoma State) and first among all teams from Texas. Future Big 12 foe TCU was a step behind at No. 14 by AP and 13th in the coaches' poll.
