WACO, Texas - Baylor head coach Art Briles announced some changes to the offensive side of the Baylor football staff Friday, including the promotion of Jeff Lebby to assistant coach to replace departed coach Dino Babers (who was named head coach of Eastern Illinois in December). Briles also announced the hiring of former graduate assistant Tate Wallis to replace Lebby on the football operations staff.

"Both Jeff and Tate are great coaches and have been valuable assets to our program," Briles said.

Additionally, Briles announced the following title changes: Philip Montgomery is now offensive coordinator, Randy Clements is now running game coordinator and Kendall Briles is now passing game coordinator.

Lebby, who will work with the running backs or tight ends/offensive line in his new role, spent four seasons as Baylor's assistant director of operations and served as the staff's NFL liaison. Lebby joined Baylor from Memorial High School in Victoria, Texas, where he taught and coached offensive linemen and tight ends.

An offensive tackle as a prep for his father, Mike Lebby, at Andrews (Texas) High School, the younger Lebby was a three-time all-district selection for the Fighting Mustangs and earned all-state honors as a senior. Lebby signed a National Letter of Intent with Oklahoma in 2002 but a back injury ended his playing career. He spent his final four years at OU as a student assistant coach.

Wallis, the new assistant director of operations, spent the 2010 and 2011 seasons serving as Baylor's offensive graduate assistant working with the tight ends and special teams. A 2008 graduate of Tarleton State, he joined Baylor following a two-year stint coaching receivers at Red Oak (Texas) High School.

The former quarterback played collegiately at SMU under current Baylor defensive coordinator Phil Bennett and was an all-state honoree at Ennis (Texas) High School.
