WACO, Texas -- A pair of Baylor receivers will work out for NFL coaches and front office personnel at the 2013 NFL Scouting Combine Feb. 23-26 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. Wide receivers and BU graduates Lanear Sampson and Terrance Williams were invited by the National Football League to participate in the annual event preceding the NFL Draft in April, marking the fifth consecutive year Baylor has multiple invitees attending the combine.
The combine allows executives, coaches, player personnel staff and medical personnel from all 32 teams to evaluate the nation's top collegiate football players eligible for the upcoming draft. The six-day job interview involves a series of tests, drills and interviews with more than 600 NFL personnel.
Fans can follow events at the NFL Combine live on the NFL Network as well as on NFL.com.
Williams is a unanimous 2012 first-team All-American and Biletnikoff Award finalist who led the nation in receiving yards (1,832 on 97 receptions) in 2012. That total ranked seventh all-time in NCAA history. A four-year starter who owns or shares eight school receiving records, Williams finished his Baylor career with 202 receptions 3,334 yards and 27 touchdowns (all marks rank second at Baylor to all-time receiving leader and current Tennessee Titan Kendall Wright). He competed in the 2013 Senior Bowl and is a 2012 graduate of Baylor with a degree in general studies.
Sampson is a 2012 honorable mention All-Big 12 selection who ranks fifth all-time at Baylor with 165 career receptions.
