WACO, Texas -- Baylor has set its practice schedule for spring football and will open drills Monday, March 2 at 3:25 p.m. at the brand new on-campus practice fields at the Highers Complex on University Parks Drive.
The Bears will conclude the spring Thursday, April 2, with a controlled scrimmage presented by Time Warner Cable. The scrimmage and all spring workouts will take place at the Highers Complex fields located behind the Simpson Center.
"We are jacked to get out on the field," head coach Art Briles said. "We relish the opportunity for growth as a team. This is a different avenue than a year ago entering spring ball; our guys know now, and they know that now we've got to produce."
The Bears enter 2009 hoping to build on Briles' inaugural campaign in 2008 when Baylor finished 4-8 and lost three games by a touchdown or less. Baylor's spring roster includes 52 returning lettermen and 18 returning starters from last season's squad.
All workouts will be open to the public, and fans interested in practice times can contact the football office at 254-710-3058. Baylor spring practice dates are scheduled for March 2,3,5,6,16,17,19,21,23,24,26,28,30,31 and April 2.
