Beginning Monday, May 2, 2005, in association of the National Day of Prayer, Baylor University will celebrate Baylor Day of Prayer (BDP) in various cities around Texas. Coach Grant Teaff and several former Baylor athletes are scheduled to participate in these events as featured speakers and prayer leaders.

Coach Teaff, a seven-time SWC Coach of the Year and National College Football Hall of Fame member, currently serves as the Executive Director of the American Football Coaches Association, will be the featured BDP speaker in the Dallas (May 2) and Houston (May 4) events.

Also, former 1974 All-SWC quarterback Neal Jeffrey will be speaking at the Fort Worth Club in Ft. Worth, Texas on Thursday, May 5, and Walter Abercrombie will be the guest speaker at the Abilene Country Club in Abilene, Texas on May 3. Neal is the Associate Pastor at Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano and Walter, a two time All-SWC running back for the Bears ('80 & '81), currently serves as the Executive Director of the Baylor "B" Association.

Additionally, those Bears who will serve as prayer leaders during the events will be former All-SWC Baylor quarterback J.J. Joe ('92), in the Dallas event on Monday, May 2, former Baylor and Minnesota Vikings running back Allen Rice, during the Houston event on Wednesday, May 4, and former All-SWC and 1984 NFL Rookie of the Year Alfred Anderson in the Fort Worth Event on Thursday, May 5.
