The Baylor football team will be sporting new Nike uniforms when it takes the field for the 2013 season.

New to the Bears' wardrobe will be a black matte helmet, a chrome gold helmet and black and gold cleats, along with redesigned jerseys and pants that incorporate Baylor-specific graphics.

In total, BU will now have five helmet choices (black matte, chrome gold, gold, green and white), three jersey colors (black, green and white) and four pant options (black, gold, green and white) for a total of 60 different uniform combinations.

Specifically new to the Baylor jerseys are updated Bear claw markings on the shoulder pads and on the front of the neckline, while the piping on each set of pants has been modernized. The phrase "SIC`EM" has been added to the back neckline of each jersey.

Both the numerals and lettering for the jerseys have been given a crisp, updated typeface. The black and green jerseys have gold numerals with anthracite colored markings on the shoulder pad. The white jerseys have green numerals with gold claw markings.

The Nike Pro Combat uniforms, which are three times lighter than BU's previous uniforms, are a fully integrated uniform system incorporating the latest in Nike's performance innovation, where the athlete's base layer works in concert with his entire uniform.

Innovations include integrated Flywire technology in the neckline for reduced weight and lockdown fit over pads. Additionally, increased sleeve articulation provides better range of motion, and four-way stretch fabrication delivers a streamlined, shrink-wrap fit.

Other additions for Baylor in 2013 include white and green, gold, and Black Vapor Jet and Super Bad gloves to match with the different uniform colors. The Bears will also have three options in footwear with Alpha Pro TD Cleat joining the Vapor Talon Elite and Lunar Super Bad cleats.

The process of designing Baylor's new uniforms was a joint effort between Baylor's Director of Equipment Services Jeff Barlow and his staff along with Nike representatives, beginning in August of 2012 and lasting two months.

Baylor opens its final season at Floyd Casey Stadium and first in the new uniforms with an Aug. 31 game against Wofford.
