WACO, Texas - The Baylor football team will take the field in 2011 with a new-look, lightweight design by Nike, head football coach Art Briles announced Wednesday.
The Bears will have two jersey colors (green and white) to choose from, as well as three different colors of pants (green, white and gold) and two helmets (white and gold). All told, Baylor will have 12 different uniform combinations (jersey/pant/helmet) at its disposal this season.
As in previous years, Baylor will have green and white jersey options. The 2011 jerseys feature a larger version of the "BAYLOR" wordmark across the front. For the first time since 2004, the new uniforms will also feature player numbers outlined in gold on the shoulders instead of the interlocking BU used in the past. The jerseys also feature an NFL style open sleeve for full mobility.
The Bears will have three colors of pants to choose from--Vegas gold, white and green. The white and gold pants will have two green claw slash stripes that wrap around the front of the uniform across the thigh, as well as an interlocking BU on the upper right-side. The green pants will feature vertical gold piping down the side.
Baylor will continue to use the traditional Vegas gold helmet, as well as a white helmet used for the last two seasons.
Season tickets, which may be purchased for as low as $160 each for Baylor's seven-game 2011 home schedule, are available online, in person at the Baylor Athletics Ticket Office or via phone by calling 254-710-1000
Coach Art Briles' Bears, fresh off the program's first bowl appearance since 1994, open their seven-game 2011 home schedule Sept. 2 with a 7 p.m. nationally televised ESPN game against 2011 Rose Bowl champion TCU. BU will also play host to Stephen F. Austin (Sept. 17), Rice (Sept. 24, Parents' Weekend), Iowa State (Oct. 8), Missouri (Nov. 5, Homecoming), Oklahoma (Nov. 19) and Texas (Dec. 3) at Floyd Casey Stadium in 2011.
