Football to Host Meet the Bears Aug. 11

Aug. 7, 2012

WACO, Texas - The Baylor Athletic Department will host its annual "Meet the Bears" football fan appreciation event, presented by Texas Farm Bureau Insurance, on Saturday, Aug. 11. The 2012 event will again be held in the Jay and Jenny Allison Indoor Practice Facility at the Highers Athletics Complex on University Parks Drive in Waco.

Fans will be invited to watch the Bears practice starting at 10:30 a.m., with a scrimmage slated from approximately 11:45 a.m. until 12:45 p.m., and then get autographs of their favorite players and coaches starting at 1 p.m. The autograph session will begin in the indoor facility following the scrimmage on the practice field.

Inflatables will again be set-up in the Allison Indoor facility for the children to enjoy, while complimentary 2012 schedule posters and schedule cards will also be available. Fans will be limited to two autographed items per player/coach.

Due to Baylor graduation ceremonies being held in the Ferrell Center on Saturday morning, fans planning to attend "Meet the Bears" should plan to park at Baylor's Dutton Avenue Parking facility (corner of Dutton & University Parks Drive) and ride the complimentary shuttles to the Highers Athletics Complex or walk which may be faster due to graduation traffic. The shuttle service is scheduled to run between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Limited spectator seating will be available for fans who want to watch practice, and all fans are asked to sit in the on the side of the practice field closest to the Allison facility for the safety of not only themselves, but the players, coaches and staff, too.

Season tickets, which may be purchased for as low as $95 each for Baylor's six-game 2012 home schedule, are available online at www.baylortix.com/fb12, in person at the Baylor Athletics Ticket Office or via phone by calling 254-710-1000. Single-game tickets go on sale Aug. 8.

Coach Art Briles' 2012 Bears, the 2011 Valero Alamo Bowl champions looking for a third straight bowl invitation for the first time in program history, open their six-game 2012 home schedule Sept. 2 with a 5:30 p.m. nationally televised Fox Sports Net game against 2012 BBVA Compass Bowl champion SMU. BU will also play host to Sam Houston State (Sept. 15), TCU (Oct. 13, Parents' Weekend), Kansas (Nov. 3, Homecoming), Kansas State (Nov. 17) and Oklahoma State (Dec. 1) at Floyd Casey Stadium in 2012.
