TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -
Baylor junior wide receiver Kendall Wright
has been chosen as one of 51 student-athletes on the 2010 Fred Biletnikoff Award Watch List, as announced by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation Tuesday afternoon.
Wright, a native of Pittsburg, Texas, enters his third season with the Bears in 2010. As a sophomore last season, Wright led the team with 66 receptions, 740 receiving yards and four touchdowns on his way to being named to numerous All-Big 12 teams. His 66 receptions rank as the third-most in a single season in program history.
In his first season with the Bears, Wright earned honorable mention Freshman All-America honors after catching 50 passes for 649 and five touchdowns, and running for 168 yards and one touchdown in 2008. He also broke the school records for receiving yards and receptions by a freshman.
Wright enters the 2010 season second on the team with 19 career starts, has played in all 24 games over the last two seasons, and has caught at least one pass in every game.
The Biletnikoff Award, first presented in 1994, is named for former Florida State All-American Fred Biletnikoff. It is presented annually to the nation's most outstanding receiver in college football.
Ten semi-finalists will be announced Nov. 15, with three finalists selected Nov. 22. The winner of the 17th Biletnikoff Award will be announced as part of the Home Depot ESPNU College Football Awards Show on Dec. 9. The award will be officially presented to the winner at the annual Biletnikoff Award dinner, hosted by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club, on Feb, 11.
Baylor opens the 2010 season Sept. 4 at home against Sam Houston State. For single-game or season ticket information, call the Baylor Athletics Ticket Office at (254) 710-1000.
