After an off day Sunday and starting classes Monday, the Baylor football team returned to practice with a two-hour workout in full pads on the grass practice fields Monday evening.
"It was a typical Monday and first day of class practice," said Baylor head coach Guy Morriss. "Some good, some not so good. I thought we picked up as we went along. The tempo was good and they were conscious of some things we had talked about (before hitting the field). It was a pretty typical first day of class type practice. You try and warn them about it, but they have other things on their mind."
The good news for the Bears Monday was that five players who had missed extensive time due to injuries sustained during fall camp returned to the practice field--junior WR Thomas White (sore quad), sophomore QB Blake Szymanski (ankle sprain), senior DE Geoff Nelson (left ankle sprain), sophomore WR David Gettis (hamstring) and DE Jameon Hardeman (sprained ankle) returned to duty but were not full speed, according to Morriss. Szymanski took nearly every rep during the live team periods at the end of practice.
"It looked to me like Blake (Szymanski) was moving around pretty good and we'll let those two guys (Szymanski and Tyler Beatty) battle it out," Morriss said.
Baylor will return to practice Tuesday at 3:15 p.m. on the grass practice fields.
