WACO, Texas –After posting a 50-48 upset win over No. 14 TCU in its season opener, Baylor debuted at No. 20 in the latest AP Top 25 poll released Tuesday. Baylor (1-0) narrowly missed breaking into the USA TODAY Coaches Poll, receiving 117 votes – tops among those not ranked in the Top 25.

It is Baylor’s highest AP Top 25 ranking since the week of Nov. 11, 1991, when it was also ranked No. 20 and the earliest it’s ranked since Sept. 7, 1993, when it was ranked No. 24 in the nation.

Tuesday marks the second straight season Baylor is ranked in the AP Top 25. Last season, Baylor snapped its 17-year ranking drought, earning a No. 25 ranking Oct. 24, 2010, and later moved up to No. 22 the following week.

Baylor returns to action Sept. 17 when it hosts Stephen F. Austin at Floyd Casey Stadium. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. and tickets can be purchased online at www.mygreenandgold.com/football/, by calling 254-710-1000 or at the Baylor Athletic Ticket Office at the Ferrell Center.
