WACO, Texas - Baylor University will hold a ceremonial ground-breaking for its new 45,000-seat on-campus football stadium at halftime of the Bears' Sept. 15th home game against Sam Houston State. Kick off for Saturday's game at Floyd Casey Stadium, which will be televised by Fox College Sports, is set for 6:05 p.m.
Saturday's game has been designated as Community Day at Floyd Casey Stadium to salute the important work of the United Way and celebrate the Baylor/Waco partnership. As part of the game's festivities, Baylor President Ken Starr and Waco Mayor Malcom Duncan, Jr., will lead the Bears onto the field, the United Way will be recognized at halftime for its community contributions, and Baylor's Golden Wave Marching Band will salute Waco.
In addition, Baylor and local officials will participate in a ceremonial ground-breaking for the Baylor Stadium during halftime, and the first 40,000 fans through the turnstiles Saturday will receive a complimentary button, sponsored by Baylor University and QTI, featuring the new on-campus stadium which will open Aug. 31, 2014, when the Bears square off against long-time rival SMU.
Tickets for Saturday's game against Sam Houston State, priced at $30 for adults and $10 for youth (age 2-18) may be purchased in person at the Baylor Athletic Ticket Office, weekdays from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m., or by calling the Ticket Office during normal business hours at 254.710.1000 or anytime on-line at www.baylorbears.com/tickets.
BU season tickets, which can be purchased for as low as $95 each, are still available for the 2012 season. Season ticket sales for Baylor's 2012 football season have already topped last year's record-breaking total sales of 16,830; which assures a fifth consecutive year season sales have increased.
