Statement from Baylor Director of Athletics Ian McCaw
On Baylor moving football game vs. WSU to Friday night...
"After consultation with University and Washington State officials, we have moved the kickoff time of this weekend's Baylor football game to 7:30 p.m. Friday night due to the complications caused by the approach of Hurricane Ike. I want to commend Washington State Athletics Director Jim Sterk, football coach Paul Wulff and their staff for being cooperative in moving the game in order to serve the best interests of student-athletes, staff and fans. We are currently working with our television partners at Fox Sports Network to make arrangements for possible television and/or video webcast of the game."
WACO, Texas -- Baylor has moved its football game against Washington State up to Friday, Sept. 12, and will kickoff at 7:30 p.m. CDT in order to avoid complications caused by the approach of Hurricane Ike to the Texas Coast this weekend.
The game, originally scheduled to be played Saturday at 11:30 a.m. and to be televised nationally on FSN, posed potential travel problems to fans, to the Washington State travel party as well as to FSN's crew, the large majority of whom are from the Greater Houston area.
BaylorBears.com will offer streamed live video free of charge over the internet at BaylorBears.com and WSUcougars.com.
Game footage from Baylor's in-stadium video, BaylorVision, will be paired with audio from the Baylor-ISP Sports Network broadcast to create the webcast.
Another Baylor athletic home event altered due to the weather is Sunday's soccer match vs. UT-San Antonio. The match has been moved back to 5 p.m. at Betty Lou Mays Field.
Baylor's campus is currently scheduled to remain open and operational through Friday.
