WACO, Texas - Baylor football's Big 12 Conference opener vs. West Virginia on Oct. 5 will be played at 7 p.m. CT and will be televised live nationally on FOX Sports 1, the Big 12 Conference announced Monday.
BU is off to a 3-0 start to the season for the third consecutive year and is ranked No. 19 in the AP Top 25 and No. 18 in the USA Today Coaches Poll.
Baylor will have an off week in advance of hosting WVU, but currently leads the country in scoring (69.7 ppg.), total offense (751.3 ypg.) and passing (444.3 ypg.), while defensively the Bears are first in tackles for loss (11.3 per game) and second in scoring (7.7 ppg.).
It will be the Bears' 21st straight game to be broadcast on national TV and the fourth this season on the FOX family of networks (first two on FOX Sports Southwest and ULM win on FS1).
West Virginia is 2-2 on the season and will host Oklahoma State on Saturday, before making the trip to Waco the following weekend.
The Bears and Mountaineers met last season with WVU taking a 70-63 victory in Morgantown, W. Va., on Sept. 29. That was the first-ever meeting between the two schools and the highest scoring game in Big 12 history.
For the game vs. WVU, Baylor has provided complimentary tickets to all citizens of West, Texas as part of the university's continuing effort to help the town recover from the devastating April 17 explosion and fires.
