WACO, Texas – Baylor sophomore Spencer Drango was named a first-team offensive lineman on the Capital One Academic All-District VII football team, as announced by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Thursday.
Baylor has had at least one academic all-district honoree in every season since 2004, with nine different players earning 15 total honors.
Drango owns a 3.62 GPA, while majoring in finance.
This year, the Cedar Park, Texas, product is second among offensive lineman with an 89.7 percent coaches’ grade and third on the team with 34 knockdowns.
He is part of an offensive unit that leads the country in total yards (718.4 ypg.), scoring (63.9 ppg.) and is seventh in rushing offense (301.1 ypg.). The Bears are surrendering only 1.14 sacks per game, which ranks 21st nationally.
Drango is now a candidate for the Capital One Academic All-America team, which will be announced in December.
