Texas Bowl Ticket Sales Surging

Dec. 8, 2010

WACO, Texas - Baylor football fans are snapping up tickets to the Bears 2010 Texas Bowl game against Illinois on Dec. 29, as more than 11,600 of the school's 12,000-ticket allotment have already been sold for the program's first postseason appearance since 1994.

"I am very proud of the way that Baylor Nation has responded to the Texas Bowl by purchasing nearly our entire allotment of tickets in just three days," said Baylor Director of Athletics Ian McCaw. "Reliant Stadium is going to have a powerful presence of green and gold just like it did last March."

Baylor students began purchasing tickets on Wednesday at the Bill Daniel Student Center Ticket Office, and responded by buying more than 1,100 of their 1,300-ticket allotment. In anticipation of continued demand from the Baylor student body the remainder of the week, the Athletics Department requested more tickets from the Texas Bowl on Wednesday.

In addition to strong sales out of the Baylor Ticket Office, the Houston Bowl has also indicated that their ticket and suite sales have been strong since Sunday's announcement that Baylor and Illinois would be playing in the Texas Bowl.

The only remaining tickets in the Baylor allotment are priced at $25 each and may be purchased online at, by calling the Baylor Athletic Ticket Office at 254.710.1000 or in person at the Ferrell Center box office weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Baylor (7-5, 4-4 in Big 12 ) will face 6-6 Illinois from the Big Ten Conference when the Texas Bowl kicks off at 5 p.m. (CST) on Dec. 29. The game will be televised live nationally on ESPN from Houston's Reliant Stadium, home of the NFL's Houston Texans.
