WACO, Texas – Baylor’s Kendall Wright and Robert Griffin III were both named first-team All-Americans by CBSSports.com. The All-America teams released Thursday were selected by the site’s staff, writers and bloggers.
Wright, a senior from Pittsburg, Texas, ranks second nationally with 1,572 receiving yards and sixth in with 101 receptions and 13 touchdowns. Baylor’s all-time leader in career receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns, Wright has totaled at least 100 receiving yards in nine of 12 games this season, including two games of 200 or more yards.
Griffin III, a finalist for the Heisman Trophy, Walter Camp Player of the Year and Davey O’Brien Awards, leads the nation with a 192.31 passing efficiency and 22.67 points responsibility per game. He ranks second nationally with 386.83 yards of total offense per game and fourth with 36 passing touchdowns. In addition to a school-record 3,998 passing yards, RG3 has rushed for 644 yards and nine touchdowns.
Wright and Griffin III are the most prolific quarterback-wide receiver duo in program history, combining on 26 out of Wright’s 29 career receiving touchdowns. They are joined by Oklahoma State’s Justin Blackmon and Levy Adcock as the Big 12’s only representatives on the CBSSports.com All-America offense and defense.
Wright and RG3 were named first-team All-Big 12 by the league’s coaches and The Associated Press earlier this week. Griffin III was selected by both as the league’s Offensive Player of the Year.
