Football Announces Mid-Year JUCO Additions

WACO, Texas-- Baylor's Big 12 champion football program has added four transfers to its roster that will enroll for the spring 2014 semester, head coach Art Briles announced Wednesday.

Four junior college transfers, offensive lineman Jarell Broxton of Lackawanna College, linebacker Grant Campbell of Bakersfield College and cornerbacks Chris Sanders of Eastern Arizona College and Tion Wright of Moorpark College, have signed National Letters of Intent and will join the Bears for 2014 spring drills.

Broxton is a top 100 junior college recruit from Gaitherburg, Md., who played two seasons at Lackawanna College in Scranton, Pa. The o-line recruit spent his sophomore season on offense after playing on the defensive line his entire career. Broxton is the 85th rated juco recruit by and 88th by

Campbell had a team-high 104 tackles as a sophomore in 2013, his second at Bakersfield. The former centerfielder for Cal State Bakersfield's baseball program was an all-state linebacker and two-way starter at Garces Memorial High School in Bakersfield.

Sanders played one season at Eastern Arizona after transferring from Georgia, where he played three games in an injury-shortened true freshman season in 2011. He totaled 35 tackles and three interceptions with EAC in 2013. Sanders prepped at Tucker High School in Tucker, Ga., where he was named a Class AAAA All-State defensive back. He also played linebacker, safety, receiver and returner at THS.

Wright played his freshman season at Moorpark College in Moorpark, Calif., appearing in seven games and totaling 22 tackles, one interception and six breakups. A two-sport star at Tascosa High School in Amarillo, he played receiver and running back but was named second-team All-District 2-5A as a cornerback as a senior in 2012. Wright lettered in track and field, recording a 10.69 in the 100-meter dash and 22-8 ¼ long jump.

Baylor, ranked fifth nationally, concludes the 2013 season by facing No. 15 UCF in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl on Jan. 1, the program's first-ever appearance in a BCS bowl. Fans can purchase tickets and find bowl information at
