Baylor men's golf has a five-stroke lead midway through the second round at the Arizona Intercollegiate. The Bears shot 19-over-par 303 in Monday's first round at Sewailo Golf Club and were sitting at 3-under-par through 12 holes in the second round when play was suspended due to darkness.

Second round play will resume at 9 a.m. CT Tuesday, and teams will continue on the course for the third and final round immediately after concluding their second rounds.

No. 5-ranked Baylor (+16) leads an 18-team field that includes No. 4 Texas A&M (+21), Arizona (+24), New Mexico (+26), No. 42 Saint Mary's (+27), UTEP (+29), Loyola Marymount (+36), No. 15 California (+38), No. 38 San Diego State (+40), No. 32 BYU (+41), Washington (+43), No. 25 Santa Clara (+45), Iowa State (+49), New Mexico State (+50), Louisiana Tech (+52), South Dakota State (+55) and Denver (+63).

Braden Bailey (E) sits alone atop the leaderboard in the 92-player field after carding a first round of 1-over 72 and sitting at 1-under through 12 holes in the second round. Garrett May (+3) is tied for fifth place after rebounding from a first-round 7-over 78 to shoot 4-under through 13 holes in the second round. Ryan Grider (+5) is tied for 10th place after a 3-over 74 in the first round and 2-over 12 holes through in the second round.

Matthew Perrine (+11) is tied for 41st place and posted the Bears final counting score in the first round with an 8-over 79. Travis McInroe (+10) bounced back from a 10-over 81 in the first round to shoot even-par through 12 holes in the second round, leaving him in a tie for 32nd place. He made birdies on four of the first five holes in the second round.

Three Baylor players are competing as individuals in the Arizona Medalist at the par-72 Randolph North Golf Course. Colin Kober is in second place in the 44-player field with a two-round total of 1-under 143. He shot 2-under 70 in the first round and 1-over 73 in the second round. Austin Cotton (+4) is in eighth place after rounds of 1-over 73 and 3-over 75, and Mark Reppe (+11) is tied for 25th place after carding scores of 4-over 76 and 7-over 79, respectively.

" Baylor has had at least a share of first place after the first round in all five tournaments during the 2017-18 season. The Bears have been alone in first place four times and tied for first place once.
" Baylor leads the 18-team field in par-4 scoring at 20-over 4.23, ranks second in par-3 scoring at 7-over 3.20 and tied for fourth in par-5 scoring at 2-over 5.07.
" Baylor's 25 birdies are one back of the tournament lead held by Saint Mary's.
" Braden Bailey is tied for the tournament lead in par-3 scoring at 1-under 2.88 and tied for fourth in par-4 scoring at 1-over 4.06.
" Garrett May is second in the 92-player field in par-5 scoring at 4-under 4.33.
" May and Travis McInroe are tied for fourth in the field with seven birdies.
" Bailey is tied for seventh in the field with 20 pars.
" May sank one of eight eagles on Monday at Sewailo. He needed only three shots in the second round on the 593-yard, par-5 8th hole.

5 - Baylor has had at least a share of the lead after the first round in all five tournaments during the 2017-18 season. The Bears had a 1-shot lead at the Gopher Invitational, were in a three-way tie for the leader at the Fighting Illini Invitational, led by two strokes at the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate and had a 6-shot lead at the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate.

Teams will return to the course to complete the second round of the Arizona Intercollegiate at 9 a.m. CT Tuesday, and the final round will begin immediately after the second round is complete. The final round of the Arizona Medalist begins at 9:15 a.m. CT.
