Baylor Men's Golfers Finish Second at Lafayette

LAFAYETTE, La. - Freshman Ryan Baca and junior Jamie McLeary shot strong final rounds Tuesday to help Baylor's men's golf team to a second place tie at the conclusion of the Louisiana Classics in Lafayette, La.

Baca (69-74-71=214) followed opening rounds of 69 and 74 by shooting a third round one-under 71 for a three-round score of 214, placing second overall. McLeary (73-77-68=218) shot a team-low 68 Tuesday and finished 11th overall.

SMU topped the 15-team field, by shooting an even par 864. Baylor and Tulsa tied for second at 873. Texas-San Antonio (875) and Texas A&M (878) finished fourth and fifth, respectively.

Sophomore Adam Meyer (76-72-73=221) shot a closing round 73 to finish tied for 23rd and Sophomore Jon Antunes (79-83-75=237) shot his best round of the tournament to finish tied for 75th.

This was the Bears sixth straight tournament finish in the top four and their fourth straight in the top two.

Baylor's next action will be on March 16 and 17 when they travel to Huntersville, N.C. to compete in Birkdale Intercollegiate hosted by Charlotte.
