LAREDO, Texas - The Baylor men's golf team is tied for the lead after playing two rounds on Friday at the Border Olympics. Mikkel Bjerch-Andresen leads the Bears and is tied for third place individually.

The 37th-ranked Bears posted a two round total of 3-over-par 579, which placed Baylor in a tie for the tournament lead with Central Arkansas. No. 33 Houston is in third, two strokes behind the co-leaders at 5-over 581. No. 35 Oklahoma is in fourth at 6-over 582, and UTSA and Lamar are tied for fifth at 8-over 584.

"We are in good position going into the final round," head coach Greg Priest said. "Mikkel played really solid. It was good to see him get that round in. Overall we played pretty well, and we are in the position we need to be in, so we just have to go out and put in a solid round tomorrow. Staying patient and sticking to our game plan is going to be the key."

Bjerch-Andresen shot 2-under par for the day, placing him in a tie for third place heading to Saturday's final round. He is trailing the leader, James Newton of Central Arkansas, by seven strokes (-9, 135). Bjerch-Andresen was one of only four players to have a round in the 60s out of 158 rounds played during the tournament's first day.

Sophomore Kyle Jones is tied for 22nd with a two-round total of 3-over 147, followed by Niclas Mansson, who is tied for 25th at 4-over 148. Senior Matthew Seligmann, who is competing as an individual is tied for 33rd at 5-over 149. Baylor's other player competing as an individual, Andreas Gjesteby, is tied for 41st with teammate Ryan O'Rear at 6-over 150. Sophomore Filippo Zucchetti is 7-over and is tied for 47th place.

Saturday's final round at the Border Olympics will be an 8 a.m. CT shotgun start with live scoring available at Bjerch-Andresen will start on the first tee, while Jones will tee off on No. 2, Mansson will begin on the third hole, O'Rear will tee off on No. 4 and Zucchetti is scheduled to begin on the fifth tee. Gjesteby tees off from the 15th hole, and Seligmann will begin on No. 17.
