Lone Star Invitational Day One Results Get Acrobat Reader

THE RUNDOWN
SAN ANTONIO, Texas –
The Baylor men’s golf team shot 3-under-par 573 over 36 holes during Monday’s first day of play at the Lone Star Invitational. The Bears enter Tuesday’s final round in a tie for third place with Southeastern Louisiana.

New Mexico leads the tournament at 13-under-par, followed by second place Purdue at 4-under-par. Baylor shot 2-over in the second round to move down into a tie for third place. Rice rounds out the top five teams at 1-under going into Tuesday’s final round.

Two Baylor players are in the top 10 individuals. Junior Niclas Mansson is tied for fourth place after an opening round of 4-under-par 68, followed by a 1-under 71. Junior Kyle Jones finished the day tied for 10th place at 2-under par after shooting even-par in the first round and 2-under 70 on his second trip through the course.

Senior Jerry Ruiz is in a tie for 27th place at 1-over-par after an opening round of 2-under-par 70 was followed by a round of 3-over 75. Andreas Gjesteby shot 2-over in his second round to finish the day tied for 38th place. Patrick Bailey, who is competing as an individual, is tied for 57th place at 6-over-par 150 headed into the final round. Filippo Zucchetti finished the day in a tie for 73rd place at 10-over-par 154.

HIGHLIGHTS
• All Baylor players made at least three birdies in the first round followed by at least two birdies in the second round.
• Jones birdied holes six and seven in both of his rounds on Monday.
• Mansson had four birdies and no bogeys in his first nine holes of the tournament to shoot 4-under 32 at the midway point of his round.
• Jones birdied hole No. 15 in the first round, accounting for one of only nine birdies made on the hole in 168 rounds played on Monday.

WHAT'S NEXT
Tuesday’s final round will be an 8:30 a.m. CT shotgun start. Jones and Mansson will begin on the first hole, while Ruiz, Gjesteby and Zucchetti will tee off from holes No. 3, 4 and 5, respectively.
