Men's Golf in 12th Place after First Day at Augusta

AUGUSTA, Ga. - The Baylor men's golf team is in 12th place after playing two rounds Saturday in the Insperity Augusta State Invitational at the par-72, 7,142 yard Forest Hills Golf Club. The Bears shot 295 in their first run through the course and 305 in the second round.

Baylor (+24, 600) was tied for fifth place midway through the day, but BU dropped seven spots in the standings after shooting 17-over-par in the second round. The 15-team field at the 35th-annual Augusta State Invitational features 12 teams ranked in the nation's top 50.

Mikkel Bjerch-Andresen (+3, 147) leads Baylor and is tied for 23rd individually after shooting even-par 72 in the first round and 3-over 75 in the second. Filippo Zucchetti (+6, 150) is tied for 38th, Ryan O'Rear (+9, 153) is tied for 55th and Kyle Jones (+10, 154) and Niclas Mansson (+10, 154) are tied for 58th place.

Bjerch-Andresen was tied for 10th after the first round, and Zucchetti was tied for 17th place through 18 holes. Jones led the field with 26 pars on the day, while Zucchetti recorded one of only 12 eagles in 150 total rounds played on Saturday.

Sunday's final round is slated for tee times beginning at 7:30 a.m. CT. Mansson will tee off from the 10th hole at 8:25 a.m., followed by Jones, O'Rear, Zucchetti and Bjerch-Andresen, respectively, in 10-minute intervals. Live scoring is available through
