HUTCHINSON, Kan. - Baylor men's golf senior Bill Allcorn shot an even-par 70 Tuesday to take a one-shot lead through three rounds of the 2009 Big 12 Men's Golf Championship at Prairie Dunes Golf and Country Club.

Allcorn, who has led or shared the lead at the end of all three rounds, is the only golfer under par through 54 holes at 1-under 209. Oklahoma State's Morgan Hoffmann is second at even-par 210, followed by Kansas State's Robert Streb in third at 1-over 211. Texas A&M's Bronson Burgoon and Colorado's Pat Grady are tied for fourth at 2-over 212. Colorado's Derek Tolan, who shared the lead with Allcorn after the second round, is in sixth place with a 3-over 213.

"Bill's keeping it in play," head men's golf coach Greg Priest said. "There were a lot of bogeys out there and the pin positions were tough. He's playing well right now and doing what he has to do to make shots."

Baylor remains in fourth place over at 43-over 883, two strokes behind third-place Texas A&M (41-over 881). Oklahoma State leads the field and is three shots ahead of second-place Colorado. Kansas State and Kansas are tied for fifth at 54-over.

"I don't think we played great, but we played ok," Priest said. "We had a chance to play really well, but we gave some shots back. Overall, we hung in there."

Allcorn kept his composure through the third round, firing an even-par 70 to own a one-stroke lead heading into the final round. The Abilene, Texas, native birdied No. 7 and later bogeyed No. 12, but managed to par out the remaining six holes to close the round.

"I kept it in play today," Allcorn said. "I made the par putts I needed to make. Tomorrow, we need to come out with the attitude that we can throw a good round. We need to have the mindset that the weather won't affect us"

Williams and Mikkelsen are both within striking distance of the top 10. Williams bogeyed two of his first three holes on the front nine before carding a birdie on hole No. 4. However, he would bogey five of the next seven holes to fall to six shots over par. A birdie on No. 13 and six consecutive pars put Williams at 75 for the round and in 12th place overall at 12-over 222.

Mikkelsen sits one shot behind Williams in 13th at 13-over 223. The freshman carded birdies on holes 4, 5 and 7 to finish one-under on the front nine, but he finished four-over on the back nine after five bogeys in a six-hole stretch.

Berkovsky remained in 31st place through three rounds, shooting a 5-over 75 on the day. He is six strokes behind Mikkelsen at 19-over 229. Paladino shot an 11-over 81 Tuesday and is tied for 59th place at 35-over 245.
