Men's Golfers Tied For 15th at NCAA Central Regional

MANHATTAN, Kan. - Baylor's men's golf team began play today in the NCAA Central Regional at the 72-par, 7,228-yard Colbert Hills Golf Club in Manhattan, Kan. The top 10 teams in the regional will advance to the NCAA Championships.

The Bears fired a 290 in the opening round. Their 2-over par total has them tied for 15th-place after the first of three rounds. Illinois has the team lead after carding a 13-under 275 to open the tournament.

Sophomore Ryan Baca continued to lead the Baylor squad. He opened regional play with a 2-under 70, which tied him for 20th place. Junior Jon Antunes turned in an even-par 72 to complete the first round in a tie for 45th-place. Senior Trevar Matheson was one stroke behind. With a 73, Matheson is tied for 57th. Junior Will Doughtie and freshman Will McDonald each carded a 75 in the opening round. They are tied for 98th.

North Carolina State's Jason Moon is the individual leader after the first round, turning in a 6-under 66 for the first 18 holes.

The second of three rounds will tee off at 7:15 a.m. on Friday.
