Baylor Fifth At SMU Stonebridge After First Day

DALLAS - Aaron Pellegrom fired opening rounds of 65 and 71 to stand second at the SMU Stonebridge Big E Tournament in McKinney Monday.

Pellegrom's 136 total paced the Bears to a fifth- place standing with a 583 total. Kent leads the tournament at 282-290--572, followed by North Texas at 578 and Rice and Texas A&M at 582.

Trailing the Bears are Stephen F. Austin, host SMU, Southwestern La., Texas-Arlington, Texas Tech, Arkansas-Little Rock, Sam Houston, Tulsa, Arkansas and Texas-San Antonio.

Kent's Ben Curtis leads the pack with rounds of 67- 68--135. For the Bears, Jimmy Walker is 14th at 71-74--145, Brandon Sanders and Troy Caesar, 41st at 71-80--151 and Jonathan Davison 50th at 72-81-- 153.

The tournament concludes Tuesday.
