Gopher Individual Day One Results Get Acrobat Reader

Baylor men’s golf is in second place with play suspended in the second of three rounds at the Gopher Invite. The Bears shot 1-under-par 283 in Sunday’s first round and are 5-over with two holes remaining in the second round at Windsong Farm Golf Club.

Teams will return to the course at 8:30 a.m. Monday to finish their second rounds, and the final round will begin with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. BU (+4) is three shots back of Arkansas (+1) and four shots in front of third-place Oklahoma (+8). Michigan State (+10) and Charlotte (+13) round out the top five, followed by Kent State (+14), Pepperdine (+15), Purdue (+15), Arizona State (+16), Minnesota (+16), Virginia Tech (+18), Iowa (+21), Penn State (+21), San Diego State (+21), New Mexico (+29) and St. John’s of Minnesota (+64).

Senior Matthew Perrine (-1) leads the Bears and is tied for fifth place in the 87-player field. He shot 3-under 68 with four birdies and one bogey to tie for the lead at 3-under 68 after the first round. Sophomore Cooper Dossey (+1) and freshman Ryan Grider (+1) both shot even-par 71 in the first round and sit tied for 11th place with two holes remaining in the second round.

Junior Braden Bailey (+4) is tied for 26th place following a first-round 3-over 74, and redshirt freshman Travis McInroe (+8) is tied for 52nd place. McInroe was +4 through 15 holes in his first collegiate round, but he made eagle on the par-5 18th and sank pars on Nos. 1 and 2 to finish his first round with a countable 2-over 73.

Four Bears are playing in the Gopher Invitational’s sister tournament, the Gopher Individual at Pioneer Creek Golf Course. Junior Garrett May is tied for the lead in the 27-player field with a two-round total of 6-under-par 138. He made six birdies on his way to a 5-under 67 in the second round.

Sophomore Colin Kober is in third place at 3-under 141 after shooting 1-under 71 in the first round and 2-under 70 later in the day. Freshman Mark Reppe began his collegiate career with an eagle on his first hole and finished the day with scores of 1-over 73 and 5-over 77, respectively, to sit in a tie for 14th place at 6-over 150. Sophomore Austin Cotton is tied for 23rd place at 11-over 155 following rounds of 3-over 75 and 8-over 80.

Monday’s final round at the Gopher Individual begins at 7:20 a.m. CT. Cotton tees off at 7:30 a.m., Reppe begins at 8 a.m., and May and Kober are in the final group off the tee at 8:40 a.m.

• Baylor leads the 16-team field in par-4 scoring at 12-over 4.11 and ranks second in par-5 scoring at 9-under 4.67.
• Baylor’s 25 birdies are tied for fifth-most in the field, and BU ranks sixth with 108 pars.
Matthew Perrine ranks second in the field in par-4 scoring at 2-under 3.91 and tied for third with 26 pars.
Travis McInroe is tied for the tournament lead in par-5 scoring at 4-under 4.33.
Ryan Grider is tied for 10th with seven birdies and tied for 13th in par-3 scoring at even-par 3.00.
Cooper Dossey and Braden Bailey are tied for 15th in par-5 scoring at 2-under 4.60.
• McInroe’s eagle on No. 18 was one of 10 eagles made on Sunday at Windsong Farm.

5-under – Baylor has played the 18th hole at 5-under-par with three players left to play No. 18 in the second round. McInroe made eagle and birdie, Grider made birdie and par. Dossey and Bailey both made birdie on No. 18 in the first round and will start on the hole when second-round play resumes Monday.

Second round play resumes at 8:30 a.m. CT Monday. Bailey and Perrine have No. 18 remaining, Dossey has Nos. 18 and 1, McInroe has Nos. 1 and 2, and Grider has Nos. 2 and 3.
