Men's Golfers Tied for Fifth

WACO, Texas -

Junior Ryan Baca shot a two-under-par 69 in the opening round and sits in a tie for third at the Mason Rudolph Golf Championships located in Kingston Springs, Tenn. Due to heavy rain there will be only two rounds of golf played at the Golf Club of Tennessee, with the final round being scheduled for Tuesday. The Bears as a team shot a first round 291 and currently sit in a tie for fifth place heading into the final round of the 18-team field hosted by Vanderbilt University.

Sophomore Will Doughtie shot an even par 71 in his first round and is tied for fifteenth overall. Teammate Jeremy Frye, a freshman, from Palestine, Texas followed with a two-over-par 73 leaving him tied for 27th.

The University of Alabama Birmingham (273) comfortably holds a fifteen-stroke lead above second place South Carolina-Aiken (288). Both The University of Mississippi and South Carolina shot a first round score of 290 and are in a tie for 3rd. LSU and Georgia State join Baylor with scores of 291 rounding out the top five teams.

Junior Jamie Luna shot an opening round of 78 and sits in a tie for 75th, while senior Jon Antunes opened play with an 83 and currently is in a tie for 84th.

The final 18 holes of the Mason Rudolph Men's Golf Championships will begin Tuesday morning.
