WACO, Texas - Baylor junior Jeremy Alcorn (Brownwood, Texas) fired a final-round, 4-under par 68 to tie for individual medalist honors, his fourth win in the past 11 months, and the Baylor "Gold" team blistered the course with a score of 9-under par 279 to claim the team title at the Baylor Invitational Tuesday at the 7,233-yard, par-72 Bear Ridge Golf Club.

In his first career tournament, redshirt freshman Carmine Mediate (Southlake, Texas) led the Baylor "Green" team to a third-place finish by finishing third individually. Mediate shot a final-round 73 to go with Monday's pair of 70s to finish at 213, two strokes off the lead.

For Baylor "Gold," senior Ryan Baca (Richmond, Texas) matched Alcorn's 68 and tied for fourth overall at 214. Junior Colton Turnquist (Austin, Texas) shot a 70 Tuesday to tie for 19th at 221, while redshirt freshman Bill Allcorn (Abilene, Texas) shot a 78 and tied for 23rd at 222. Junior Jeremy Frye (Palestine, Texas) posted his second straight round of 73 and tied for 35th at 225.

For Baylor "Green," sophomore Wes Williams (Franklin, Tenn.) fired a career-low 69 to tie for sixth at 215. Junior Chase Thomas (Dallas, Texas), who shot a final-round 74, and sophomore Matt Briggs (San Antonio, Texas), who shot a 72, each tied for 48th at 228. Senior Will McDonald (Birmingham, Ala.) shot a 76 and tied for 65th at 232.

Playing individually, sophomore Brian Meck (Austin, Texas) shot a 75 and tied for 12th with 219, giving the Bears six players in the top 20. Four Baylor players posted top-10 finishes.

Baylor "Gold" overcame a five-stroke deficit to rally past Lamar for a four-stroke victory. The Bears ended the tournament with a total of 862, while the Cardinals shot 866. Baylor "Green" shot 879 for third, followed by Southeastern Louisiana and UT-Arlington, which tied for fourth at 880.

Alcorn battled Lamar's Justin Harding to a draw for the individual crown. Mediate began the day with a one-stroke lead over Harding and a three-stroke lead over Alcorn. Harding and Alcorn each opened with bogeys on the front nine, but Harding gained a stroke with a pair of birdies before the turn. Alcorn then caught fire on the back nine, tying Harding with birdies on 11 and 14. Both players then birdied both 16 and 18 to tie for the title. With Harding clinching a share of the title, Lamar has shared or won individual medalist honors in four of the last five Baylor Invitationals.

Baylor will take a break before returning to action at the University of Hawai'i Fall Intercollegiate Nov. 7-9 at Kaneohe Klipper Golf Course in Kaneohe, Hawai'i.
