Jerry Pate Intercollegiate Final Results in PDF Format BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Baylor sophomore Cody Paladino (Kensington, Conn.) fired his second straight round of 66 to help lead the Bears men's golf team to a fourth-place finish at the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate Tuesday. Baylor shot a final-round 3-under to finish one stroke out of third and three out of second. Host Alabama ran away with the Jerry Pate, claiming the title by six strokes at 10-under. The Bears finished two strokes ahead of fifth-place UNLV. "The guys came back and fought hard today," Baylor head coach Greg Priest said. "Our goal today was to catch UNLV and North Carolina and finish in the top 5. "We came close to making a late run to finish in the top two, but I thought the guys hung in there," Priest said. "We knew coming into this tournament that Alabama and Auburn would play well on this course, so we wanted to make sure that we kept up with them and played our game." After shooting an opening-round 5-over Monday, Paladino scorched the Old Overton course with back-to-back career-low rounds of 66. Paladino finished tied for sixth overall at 3-under 207. Freshman Joakim Mikkelsen (Drammen, Norway) finished tied for 15th at even-par 210. Redshirt freshman Lorenzo Scotto (Pordenone, Italy) carded a 1-over 71 in the final round to finish at 2-over 212. Colton Williams (Jacksboro, Texas) fired Baylor's other sub-par round with a 69 to finish tied for 23rd (3-over 213). Senior Bill Allcorn (Abilene, Texas) finished 47th at 9-over 219. Baylor returns to the links Oct. 27-28 when the Bears host the Baylor Intercollegiate at Royal Oaks Country Club in Dallas.
