NORMAN, Okla. - The Baylor men's golf team carded a final round team total of 294 as the Bears finished in second place at the Oklahoma Intercollegiate on Tuesday. Jeremy Alcorn was the top Baylor golfer at the tournament as he finished in third place after shooting a final round total of 69 (+9, 222).
Baylor finished with a team total +48, 11 shots behind tournament champion Tulsa.
Baylor's Bill Allcorn and Wesley Williams finished tied for 11th in the individual standings after a Allcorn shot a 76 on the final day while Williams shot a 78 to finish the tournament at +13 (226).
Colton Williams finished in a tie for 14th with a three round total of 227 (+14) while Jeremy Frye finished in a tie for 21st after shooting 73 on the final day for a three-rpund score of +16.
Brian Meck closed out the Baylor scoring with a final round of 76 to finish in a tie for 25th-place at the tournament.
The Baylor "green" team finished third at the Rattler Invitational Tuesday at the 7,047-yard, par-71 Pecan Valley Golf Club in San Antonio.
Senior Chase Thomas (Dallas, Texas) tied for third to lead the Bears with a total of 215 and carding rounds of 72, 73 and 70. Redshirt freshman Jeff Gerlich (Austin, Texas) tied for 11th at 218 with back-to-back rounds of 74, followed by a final-round 70. Redshirt freshman Weldon Martin (Houston, Texas) tied for 22nd with a score of 221, including rounds of 74, 71 and 76.
Sophomore Carmine Mediate
(Southlake, Texas) opened with a 78 before back-to-back rounds of 73 to tied for 35th at 224, while senior Colton Turnquist
(Austin, Texas) shot 75, 74 and 76 to tie for 39th at 225.
The tournaments end the fall season for Baylor as the Bears will return to action on March 5, 2007, at the Louisiana Classics in Lafayette, La.
