Baylor Intercollegiate Day One Results in PDF Format DALLAS - The Baylor men's golf team was unable to tame the windy conditions Monday as the 17th-ranked Bears are 13 strokes behind the leader after two rounds of the Baylor Intercollegiate at Royal Oaks Country Club. After shooting 20-over 304 in the first round, Baylor shot an impressive 2-over 286 to finish fifth overall at 22-over. Texas A&M holds a two-stroke lead after two rounds at 9-over 577, ahead of second-place Lamar (11-over 579). Oklahoma is in third overall at 17-over 585, while Arkansas is in fourth at +20 588. Freshman Joakim Mikkelsen (Drammen, Norway) was the Bears' best performer on day one, finished tied for eighth overall at 3-over 145. Junior Colton Williams (Jacksboro, Texas) and senior Bill Allcorn (Abilene, Texas) shot 6-over 148 to finish tied for 18th. After shooting 5-over in round one, Williams bounced back with a 1-over 72 that included a hole-on-one at No. 4 in the second round. Redshirt freshman Lorenzo Scotto (Pordenone, Italy) finished tied for 29th at 9-over 151, while Cody Paladino (Kensington, Conn.) shot a 16-over 158 to finish 57th overall. Austin Berkovsky (Aledo, Texas) is tied for 47th at 14-over 156, followed by Neal Robinson (Dallas, Texas) and Michael McKinley (Dallas, Texas) in 52nd and 58th place, respectively. "It was cold and windy today, which made for some tough conditions," Baylor head coach Greg Priest said. "We got off to a tough start. "For the first time all year, we played poorly as a team in a round - except for Bill (Allcorn)," Priest said. "It was good to see how they responded as a team. We finally had a bad round and good teams are able to bounce back the next day. "I am proud of how the guys hung in there and bounced back," Priest said. Baylor, ranked 10th in the latest Golfstat head-to-head NCAA standings, struggled out of the gate in the first round. Scotto either bogeyed or double-bogeyed five of his first six holes in the opening round, falling to 7-over early. He would later birdie the 10th hole, but would eventually finish at 10-over 81 at the conclusion of the first round. Robinson made a solid debut in the first round for the Bears. The Dallas native eagled No. 5 and finished at 4-over 75 after round one. McKinley, also making his season debut for Baylor, and Berkovsky each shot a 9-over 80 in the first round. Baylor's three veterans - Allcorn, Williams and Paladino - did not fare any better in the windy conditions of the first round. Williams had a tough time on the front nine of the first round, carding three consecutive bogeys. However, the junior rebounded to finish at 5-over 76. Allcorn did not encounter as many obstacles as his teammates in the first round after posting a 1-over 72. Paladino endured the most difficult first round of any Baylor golfer with a 13-over 84. After shooting a double-bogey on the first hole, Paladino pared the next three holes before birdying the fifth. But, on the par-4 ninth hole, Paladino's second shot landed in the water, forcing him to take a two-stroke penalty. The 2008 Baylor Intercollegiate will conclude Tuesday with the third and final round beginning at 8:30 a.m. CT. Live scoring will be available at Golfstat.com.
