Men's Golf in 10th after First Round at Turtle Bay

Turtle Bay First Round Results in PDF Format KAHUKU, O`ahu, Hawai`i - The Baylor men's golf team shot a 1-under 287 and is the middle of the pack in 10th place Monday after the first round of the 8th annual Turtle Bay Intercollegiate. Baylor, which is ranked 11th overall in the latest Golfstat NCAA Division I Head-to-Head standings, sits two shots behind Mississippi State, Saint Mary's and Hawai`i for seventh place. San Diego State leads by three strokes after shooting an 11-under 277. Texas and UT Arlington are tied for second at 8-under 280, with UNLV (7-under 281) and Ohio State (5-under 283) in fourth and fifth place, respectively. Freshman Joakim Mikkelsen (Drammen, Norway) and sophomore Cody Paladino (Kensington, Conn.) are tied for 13th after firing a 2-under 70 in the first round. Mikkelsen's first-round 70 is his team-leading sixth under-par round. Redshirt freshman Lorenzo Scotto (Pordenone, Italy) shot a 1-over 73 to finish tied for 45th after day one. Junior Colton Williams (Jacksboro, Texas) is tied for 59th at 2-over 74, while senior Bill Allcorn (Abilene, Texas) is in 70th place with a 3-over 75. Twelve players shot rounds of 69 or lower on Monday. Texas' Adam Wennderstrom and San Diego State's Andrew Cooley are tied for a share of the lead after the first round at 6-under 66. Thirty-six players shot under par in the first round. Round two of the Turtle Bay Intercollegiate will begin Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. (CT)/7:30 a.m. (HT).
