Mikkelsen One Stroke Back at Turtle Bay Tuesday

Turtle Bay Second Round Results in PDF Format KAHUKU, O`ahu, Hawai`i - Baylor freshman Joakim Mikkelsen (Drammen, Norway) is in third place at 6-under after firing a second-round 68, while the Bears men's golf team is tied for eighth Tuesday after two rounds at the Turtle Bay Intercollegiate. Mikkelsen is in a three-way tie for third with Ohio State's Vaughn Snyder and Cal Poly's Jarod Knight. All three shot under par Tuesday, but Mikkelsen was the only one to post a round in the 60s. The trio is one stroke behind leaders Thomas Kua (Hawai`i) and Johan Carlsson (San Diego State) at 7-under 137. After shooting a 1-under 287 in the first round, the Bears had four players shoot over par to finish 5-over (581) through two rounds, alongside Mississippi State and host Hawai`i. Baylor is two strokes behind UT Arlington (+3 579) for seventh place and one stroke ahead of 11th-place Pepperdine and Long Beach State. Mikkelsen carded the second-lowest score of the round and has now recorded four consecutive sub-par rounds, dating back to the second round of the Baylor Intercollegiate in October. The freshman is the only Baylor men's golfer in the top 20; sophomore Cody Paladino (Kensington, Conn.) shot a 3-over 75 Tuesday to finish tied for 31st overall through two rounds. Colton Williams (Jacksboro, Texas) and Lorenzo Scotto (Pordenone, Italy) are deadlocked in 56th place at 5-over 149. Williams shot 3-over 75, while Scotto carded a 4-over 76 on Tuesday. Bill Allcorn (Abilene, Texas) shot 5-over for the day to finish tied for 78th overall at 8-over 152. The final round of the Turtle Bay Intercollegiate will begin Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. (CT)/7:30 a.m. (HT).
