Baylor's men's golf team will open its spring season by playing at the annual Rice Intercollegiate on Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 11-12, at Meadowbrook Farms golf course just outside Houston.
The tournament boasts a competitive 12-team field that includes Baylor, Air Force, Kansas State, Louisiana-Lafayette, Mississippi State, Missouri, North Texas, Southwest Texas, Tennessee, UC-Davis, Vanderbilt and host Rice.
Baylor, Missouri and Tennessee are all top-50 ranked teams, according to Golfstat.com.
The format of the Invitational consists of 54 holes beginning with two 18-hole rounds Monday beginning at 7:30 a.m., and a final round Tuesday.
Meadowbrook Farms is a 7,100-yard, par 72 course situated in Katy.
Kansas won the Rice Intercollegiate by 12 strokes last year. Baylor finished third in the 10-team field. Baylor senior Jimmy Walker and freshman Will Doughtie finished seventh among individuals.
The defending Big 12 champion Bears have won three of their last six tournaments.
In Baylor's last outing of the fall, the Bears won the Henry Griffitts/Baylor invitational in Waco. The team was led by junior Jamie McLeary who finished tied for third overall.
