SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Baylor Men's golf team, ranked No. 40 nationally in the latest GolfStat rankings, opens its spring season at the UTSA Oak Hills Invitational, which begins Monday. The two-day, 54-hole tournament will be played on the par-71, 6,765-yard course at Oak Hills Country Club.

Teams are scheduled to play 36 holes on Monday, beginning with an 8 a.m. CT shotgun start, Tuesday's final round will have tee times starting at 7:30 a.m. Live scoring for all three rounds will be available at www.GolfStat.com.

The 14-team field features four Big 12 schools (Baylor, Iowa State, Kansas State, Oklahoma) along with seven programs from the state of Texas (Baylor, Houston Baptist, McNeese State, North Texas, Texas State, UT Arlington, UTSA). Baylor finished third in the 2012 Oak Hills Invitational, improving from its fifth-place finish in 2011.

Four sophomores will anchor Baylor's lineup for the spring season opener. Kyle Jones, Filippo Zucchetti, Niclas Mansson, and Mikkel Bjerch-Andresen are joined by senior Ryan O'Rear on the Bears' lineup card. Freshman Andreas Gjesteby will compete as an individual.

Zucchetti leads the Bears into the tournament with a 71.83 scoring average through 12 fall rounds and a second-place finish in the Bears final fall appearance, a win at the Warrior-Wave Intercollegiate. Following closely behind Zucchetti are Bjerch-Andresen and Jones, whose scoring averages are separated by 0.07 strokes.

Following the UTSA Oak Hills Invitational, Baylor heads to Houston to compete in the three-day Bayou City Collegiate Championship, which begins Feb. 22.
