WACO, Texas - The Baylor men's golf team heads to Los Cabos, Mexico, for the Querencia Cabo Collegiate, hosted by SMU. The three-day, 54-hole event begins Sunday at Los Cabos Querencia.
All three rounds will be played on different par-71 course layouts. Baylor, which is ranked 26th in the latest GolfStat rankings, will compete in a field of 14 teams. The field features four top-25 teams, including No. 1 Alabama, No. 13 Houston, No. 17 Vanderbilt and No. 21 Arkansas. The Bears will also compete against Abilene Christian, Chattanooga, Coastal Carolina, No. 35 Kentucky, Lamar, No. 34 LSU, Mississippi, No. 32 SMU and UT-Arlington.
Junior Kyle Jones, the nation's 51st-ranked player according to the latest GolfStat rankings, leads the Bears' lineup. He'll be joined by senior Jerry Ruiz, juniors Niclas Mansson and Filippo Zucchetti and sophomore Andreas Gjesteby. Sophomore Charles Neel White will compete as an individual.
Ruiz and Jones look to continue their streaks of top-25 finishes after Ruiz finished tied for 15th and tied for fifth place in his first two spring tournaments, and Jones claimed the UTSA Oak Hills Invitational individual title and tied for 21st in last week's Bayou City Championship.
All three rounds will be shotgun starts, with the first two rounds beginning at 8 a.m. CT and Tuesday's championship round scheduled for 7:30 a.m.
