Men's Golf Heads to Border Olympics

Ryan O'Rear is the only upperclassmen in Baylor's lineup.

LAREDO, Texas - The No. 37-ranked Baylor men's golf team wraps up its Texas at the Border Olympics at the Laredo Country Club, which begins Friday at Laredo Country Club. The two-day, 54-hole tournament will be played on the par-72, 7,125-yard course.

Teams are scheduled to play 36 holes on Friday followed by the final 18 holes on Saturday. Live scoring is available at

Baylor is one of 10 Texas schools in the 14-team Border Olympics field, joining No. 33 Houston, Lamar, McNeese State, Rice, Sam Houston State, Stephen F. Austin, Texas State, UT Arlington and UTSA. The Bears will also be competing against No. 35 Oklahoma, Central Arkansas, Northern Colorado and Washington State.

Baylor finished in second place at last year's Border Olympics. Three Bears finished in the top five individually, led by Mikkel Bjerch-Andresen's third-place finish with an even-par 216.

The Bears' lineup features four sophomores with Kyle Jones, Filippo Zucchetti, Niclas Mansson and Bjerch-Andresen and senior Ryan O'Rear. Senior Matthew Seligmann and freshman Andreas Gjesteby will compete as individuals.
