Head coach Greg Priest has the Bears in their 16th consecutive NCAA Regional.

May 15, 2013

PULLMAN, Wash. - The Baylor men's golf team is headed to the NCAA Pullman (Wash.) Regional, which begins Thursday at Palouse Ridge Golf Club. The Bears are making their 16th consecutive postseason appearance, extending one of the nation's longest streaks.

The three-day, 54-hole tournament hosted by Washington State will be played in Pullman, Wash., which is one of six regional sites. The event will be held on the par-72, 7,308-yard golf course at Palouse Ridge. The top five teams and three lowest-scoring individuals not on advancing teams will move on to the NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championship.

"We are looking forward to competing at the NCAA Pullman regional," head coach Greg Priest said. "The golf course is in really good shape and the guys are excited about the opportunity. It should be a fun weekend."

The No. 8 seed Bears will compete in a 14-team field, including seven other teams ranked in the nation's top 50 in the latest GolfStat rankings: No. 1 California, No. 11 TCU, No. 12 Southern California, No. 24 St. Mary's, No. 25 Virginia Tech, No. 36 BYU and No. 37 North Texas. San Diego State, Ball State, Memphis, Pacific, Princeton and Saint Francis are also in the field.

Baylor's lineup consists of four sophomores and one senior. Sophomores Kyle Jones, Niclas Mansson and Mikkel Bjerch-Andresen are playing in their second NCAA Regionals after competing as freshmen in Ann Arbor, Mich., last season. Sophomore Filippo Zucchetti will make his first postseason appearance, while senior Ryan O'Rear is playing in his fourth NCAA Regional.

"We told the guys before we left: It doesn't matter how well you played during the year or what good or bad things you've done all year long," Priest said. "Right now, everybody's at zero. So it comes down to this one tournament, and this is where you have to play well. This is where you have to put it all together. And if we play well, we're probably going to get in; if we don't, we won't."

Teams will tee off from both the first and 10th holes. Baylor begins Thursday's opening round from the first hole at 10:55 a.m. CT, with Bjerch-Andresen taking the first tee time. Zucchetti, O'Rear, Mansson and Jones will follow in 11-minute intervals, respectively. The Bears will tee off from the 10th hole starting at 10 a.m. Friday, and Saturday's final round tee times are to be determined. Live scoring for all three rounds is at
