Men's Golf To Open Fall in Charleston

WACO, Texas - Baylor's men's golf team will open its fall season by playing at the annual Kiawah Island Intercollegiate on Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 9-10, at the Kiawah Island Resort golf course just outside Charleston, S.C.

The tournament boasts a competitive 15-team field that includes Baylor, Alabama, Florida State, Kent State, Kentucky, LSU, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina State, South Carolina, South Carolina Aiken, Tulsa, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech and host College of Charleston.

Baylor, Alabama, College of Charleston, LSU, North Carolina State, Tulsa and Virginia Tech each finished last spring ranked in the top 50, according to Golfstat.com.

The format of the Invitational consists of 54 holes beginning with two 18-hole rounds Monday starting at 7:30 a.m., and a final round Tuesday.

Turtle Point is a 7,000-yard, par 72 course situated in Kiawah Island.

The host Cougars won the Kiawah Island Intercollegiate by seven strokes last year. Baylor finished seventh in the 15-team field. Then-sophomore Adam Meyer and then-junior Jamie McLeary each finished 15th among individuals.

The Bears have finished in the top five in each of their last 10 regular season tournaments.

In Baylor's last outing of the spring, the Bears finished 19th in the school's first appearance at the NCAA Championship. The team was led by Meyer who finished tied for 27th out of 156 competitors.
