ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Baylor's men's golf team plays its first domestic tournament of the 2012-13 season when its heads to the 58th annual William H. Tucker Intercollegiate this Friday and Saturday in Albuquerque, N.M.
The two-day, 54-hole event is hosted by the University of New Mexico on the par-72, 7,562-yard UNM Championship Course. The tournament begins with a 9 a.m. CT shotgun start on Friday, when teams will play a pair of rounds, and concludes with Saturday's third and final round.
Baylor will be making its seventh appearance at the Tucker Intercollegiate. The Bears' best finishes at the event came when they finished fourth in both 2005 and 2009.
This week's Baylor lineup includes senior Ryan O'Rear and sophomores Mikkel Bjerch-Andresen, Kyle Jones, Niclas Mansson and Filippo Zucchetti. Senior Matthew Seligmann and freshman Andreas Gjesteby will compete as individuals.
The 14-team field includes Arizona, Baylor, BYU, Colorado, Minnesota, New Mexico, New Mexico State, Pepperdine, San Francisco, Texas-San Antonio, UC Irvine, Utah, UTEP and Wyoming.
The Bears opened the 2012-13 season at the Topy Cup in Tanagura, Japan. Baylor finished first among the four American teams at the event and fifth overall behind four teams from Japan. Bjerch-Andresen finished seventh individually after shooting a 4-under-par 206. Jones tied for 20th and Mansson tied for 23rd.
