The Baylor men's golf team is in second place after the first round of the Notre Dame Gridiron Golf Classic at the Warren Golf Course.
The Bears shot an 8-over par 288 in the first round, and trail Michigan State by three shots heading into Monday's second round. Michigan State's Graham Baillargeon and Notre Dame's Doug Fortner lead the competition at 2-under par.
Colton Williams (Jacksboro, Texas) leads the way for the Bears, shooting a 1-under par 69, just one shot behind the leaders. Cody Paladino (Kennington, Conn.) carded a 1-over par 71 and sits in a tie for fifth place with seven other players.
Bill Allcorn () and Wes Williams () are tied for 21st overall after shooting 4-over par 74s through the first 18 holes. Weldon Martin () carded a 77 in the first round and is tied for 42nd at 7-over par.
Jeff Gerlich (), playing as an individual this week, shot 73 on Sunday and is tied for 17th overall at 3-over par.
The Bears return to action tomorrow morning for the second round of the Notre Dame Gridiron Golf Classic. Baylor tees off on the first hole beginning at 9:20 a.m. EDT.
