Men's Golf To Play in Gridiron Golf Classic

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The Baylor men's golf team returns to action in the Fighting Irish Gridiron Golf Classic Monday and Tuesday at the 7,011-yard, par-70 Warren Golf Course.

Head coach Greg Priest will send one of his more experienced lineups with seniors Jeremy Alcorn (Brownwood, Texas), Jeremy Frye (Palestine, Texas) and Colton Turnquist (Austin, Texas) leading the way. Junior Matt Briggs (San Antonio, Texas) and redshirt freshman Colton Williams (Jacksboro, Texas) round out the Baylor five.

Last time out, Baylor finished seventh at the Shoal Creek Intercollegiate in Birmingham, Ala. Frye led the Bears by tying for 14th.

The first round begins Monday at 8:15 a.m. CDT, followed by the second round. The third and final round will be played Tuesday. Also competing in the tournament will be Augusta State, College of Charleston, Florida State, Illinois State, Lamar, Louisiana-Monroe, Rice, Vanderbilt, Virginia and Western Kentucky.

The Baylor "green" team will also compete this week in the SFA Classic in Lufkin, Texas. Redshirt freshman Jeff Gerlich (Austin, Texas), senior Chase Thomas (Dallas, Texas), sophomore Bill Allcorn (Abilene, Texas), junior Wes Williams (Franklin, Tenn.), sophomore Carmine Mediate (Southlake, Texas) and redshirt freshman Weldon Martin (Houston, Texas) will see action in that event.

The Bears will play in their final fall tournament, The Oklahoma Intercollegiate, Oct. 15-17 at Oak Tree Country Club in Edmond, Okla.
