Three Former Bears Advance to Second Round of PGA Q-School

PGA TOUR Q-School 2009 Information

WACO, Texas - Former Baylor men's golfers Ryan Baca, Will Doughtie and Jeremy Frye each advanced to the second qualifying stage of the PGA TOUR Q-School Saturday. Jeremy Alcorn and Bill Allcorn will look to advance to the second stage when they tee off this week (Oct. 27-30) at their respective qualifying sites.

Alcorn will play in Valdosta, Ga., at the Kinderlou Forest Golf Club, while Allcorn will look to qualify for the second stage at Lantana Golf Club in Lantana, Texas.

Baca finished tied for 12th at St. Johns Golf & Country Club in St. Augustine, Fla. Baca fired a final-round 2-under 70 to finish at 6-under (68-71-73-70-282) for the qualifying stage. There were 22 qualifying positions at the St. Augustine qualifying site. Doughtie fared the best of the three former Bears vying for their PGA TOUR card. The Amarillo, Texas, native finished fourth with a final score of 5-under (67-75-69-72=283) at the McKinney, Texas, qualifying site at Stonebridge Ranch Country Club.

Palestine, Texas, native Jeremy Frye finished tied for 15th at the Spring, Texas, qualifying site (Cypresswood Golf Club - Tradition). Frye finished at 2-under (74-70-72-70=286).

The second qualifying stage will be held Nov. 18-21 at six different sites - Brooksville, Fla. (Southern Hills Plantation Club), Panama City, Fla. (Hombre Golf Club), Pine Mountain, Ga. (Callaway Gardens-Mountain View Golf Course), Kingwood, Texas (Deerwood Golf Club), McKinney, Texas (TPC Craig Ranch) and Beaumont, Calif. (Oak Valley Golf Club). The final qualifying stage will be held Dec. 2-7, 2009.
