WACO, Texas – Baylor’s men’s golf has signed Brandon Hoff to a National Letter of Intent, head coach Mike McGraw announced Wednesday.
An Austin, Texas native, Hoff is a three-year letterwinner for head coach Matt Wernecke at Vandegrift High School. Hoff was teammates with current Baylor golfer Cooper Dossey during the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons, where they helped the Vipers to state titles in both years.
“Brandon is a talented player with an extremely athletic golf swing,” McGraw said. “We are excited that he will be a Bear."
Hoff earned All-District recognition as both a sophomore in 2016 and a junior in 2017, and he was named All-Regional and All-State in 2016. He has 11 top-10 finishes while playing for Vandegrift, including top-five finishes in the District Tournament each of the past three seasons.
Hoff is ranked No. 125 overall and No. 18 in Texas in the 2018 class according to Junior Golf Scoreboard. He shot 71 to win the 2014 AJGA David Toms Qualifier, finished in second place by shooting 69-71 at the 2014 TJGT Texas Junior Masters, won the 2016 Jimmy Demaret with scores of 70-73,
Hoff finished top-five individually in all three tournaments during the 2016 high school playoffs, helping Vandegrift win Regional, District and State titles. He shot 69-73 to finish in second place in the District Championship at Delaware Springs, shot 70-72 to finish in fourth place in the Regional Championship at Golf Club of Texas and shot 71-73 to take third place in the State Championship at Wolfdancer.
Hoff will enroll at Baylor in fall 2018 and have four years of eligibility starting with the 2018-19 season.
The 2017-18 Bears are ranked No. 6 nationally in the latest GolfStat rankings. Baylor wrapped up its fall season by claiming the tournament title at the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate for a second straight season. BU returns to action at the Arizona Intercollegiate, which runs Jan. 29-30 at Sewailo Golf Club in Tucson, Ariz.
