Head coach Greg Priest announced the signing of Joakim Mikkelsen to a national letter of intent.

WACO, Texas - The Baylor men's golf team signed Joakim Mikkelsen to a national letter of intent head coach Greg Priest announced on Tuesday.
Mikkelsen, a native of Drammen, Norway, has been a member of the Norwegian national team for the past three years and helped his team to the 2006 European Team Championships. He finished eighth overall at the 2007 European Championships.
"We are really excited to get a player of Joakim's caliber," said Priest. "He is a very established player in international and team competitions. He has played several major events for Norway and we are excited to have him coming to Baylor."
As a 15 year-old player, finished fifth at the 2005 Danish International Youth Championship, a tournament for players up to 21 years-old. Mikkelsen finished fourth at the Norwegian Junior Championships, and tied for fourth at the Norwegian Championships, a tournament featuring both professional and amateur players.
Mikkelsen has recorded four top-five finishes on the 2007 Norwegian Titleist Tour, and has not finished outside the top 10 this season. He ranks third on the Titleist Tour order of merit.
On the Titleist Tour, Mikkelsen finished second at the Holtsmark GC and the Arendal GC, while placing fourth at Narvik GC and fifth at Stjordal GC.
The men's golf team finished its fall season with top 10 finishes in all five tournaments, including three top-five finishes. In addition, the Bears won the Saint Mary's College Invitational, with Wes Williams claiming the individual title. Baylor opens its spring season on Feb. 18-19 at the Rice Intercollegiate at the Westwood Country Club.
